- Prof. Koenraad Debackere

Prof. Dr. Ir. Koenraad Debackere has been with K.U. Leuven since 1995. In 1995 he became professor at K.U.Leuven where he teaches Technology and Innovation Management. In 1993, 1995 and 1997 he has won Best Research Paper Awards from the American Academy of Management and the Decision Sciences Institute. His research has focused on the area of technology and innovation management and policy. He is also actively engaged in technology transfer activities as managing director of K.U. Leuven Research & Development and Chairman of the Gemma Frisius Fonds (the venture fund) of the K.U.Leuven. He is the co-founder and chairman of Leuven.Inc, the innovation network of Leuven high-tech entrepreneurs. He is a board member of IWT-Vlaanderen, the Flemish government agency that supports science and technology development in Flemish industry. Since 2005, he is the general manager of K.U.Leuven.

Gero Federkeil holds a degree in sociology from University of Bielefeld (Germany). After working for some years in empirical social research he joint the German National Science Council in 1993. Working there for seven years in university planning, evaluation and policy consulting. Since 2000 he is working for the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE), an non-profit organisation dealing with higher education policy and consulting. His main field of work is university ranking. He has published on quality assurance, evaluation, benchmarking, performance indicators and rankings. Vice-Chair of IREG – International Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence (International Ranking Expert Group).

Wolfgang Glänzel is Professor at K.U. Leuven and Director of the Steunpunt O&O Indicatoren of the Flemish community. He is Co-Editor of the international journal Scientometrics, member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Informetrics and Secretary-Treasurer of the International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics. Wolfgang Glänzel is (co-)authors of several books and more than 150 papers in international journals and conference proceedings. In 1999 he received the Derek deSolla Price Award for outstanding contributions to the quantitative studies of science.

- Dr. Jan Sadlak

Dr. Jan SADLAK is Director of UNESCO-European Centre for Higher Education (UNESCO-CEPES) in Bucharest, Romania. Prior to this he was Chief of the Section for Higher Education Policy and Reform in UNESCO, Paris. He holds an MA degree in economics from the Economic University in Wroclaw, Poland, and a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Buffalo/SUNY, USA. He is a Member Correspondent of the European Academy of Arts, Sciences and Humanities - Academia Europensis, Paris, France, and a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science, San Francisco, USA. He received a number of honorary doctorates (Doctor Honoris Causa) and high rank academic and national distinctions. His research interests and publications cover key issues in higher education and science policy, intellectual entrepreneurialism as well as ethical dimension of higher education and science.

Director Communications, Nuffic Netherlands Organisation for Internationalisation (the Netherlands).
Hanneke Teekens is currently director communication with Nuffic, the Netherlands organization for international cooperation in higher education. Before she has worked at the Hogeschool and University of Amsterdam and Twente University. She held various positions in international education and has worked extensively in different parts of the world. She read history at Leyden University. She is a frequent speaker at international conferences and seminars and has published on many aspects of the internationalization of higher education.

- Dr. Westerheijden
Don F. Westerheijden completed his doctoral dissertation at the University of Twente on the subject of political and bureaucratic decision-making in 1988. Since then he has worked as senior research associate at the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) of that university, where he co-ordinates research related to quality management, ‘ranking’ etc. He has edited and contributed to books on quality assessment in higher education, and produced a number of articles on the topic. He is a member of the editorial boards of three journals related to quality in higher education. In addition, he is a member of the expert panel of Studychoice.nl, the Dutch national website for comparative study programme information.
